Armadillos often drag their feet and drag their tails after them, obscuring their tracts. However, the V formed by the middle two toes of the front paw often saves the day by showing through the mess.

Most North Americans needn't look tracks with Vs, however, because Armadillos are found only in the Southeast and south-central states.
